Project Information

The proposed work for each scheme area is outlined below:


Ballybrack stream - Church Road culvert replacement, removal of two minor bridges, new flood defence walls, and channel widening and deepening.

Woollen Mills - New flood defence wall along southern river bank.

Donnybrook Commercial Centre - Replacement Culvert.

Togher: Trash Screen replacement, approx. 650m of culvert replacement, channel widening and road drainage measures.

Project Programme

The project will comprise five stages, as set out below:

Stage I Development of a number of flood defence options and the identification of a preferred Scheme. Complete by Quarter 2 2016
Stage II Environmental Assessment and Planning Complete by Quarter 3 2017
Stage III Detailed Design and Tender Complete by Quarter 1 2018
Stages IV and V Construction and Handover of the Works Commence by Quarter 2 2018

The Key Public Consultation Dates are as follows:

Public Consultation Day No. 1: Constraints Stage 25th February 2014
Public Consultation Day No. 2 Emerging Preferred Option 8th October 2014
Public Consultation Day No. 3 Display of Proposed Scheme 4th April 2017
Submission of application to An Bord Pleanála
The Environmental Impact Statement, Appropriate Assessment screening statement and Planning Documents will be put on display for a minimum of six weeks. 18th May to 29th June 2017

Project Status

Stage I - Nearing completion - Final reviews of stage 1 reports underway.
